Hi, I'm Pete.

Pete Buhler \Bu-ell-er\ actually, and needless to say I’ve had to smile through a few Ferris jokes. It wasn’t easy growing up in the shadow of a marginal 80s movie character, and it grew longer every time I checked in at the doctor’s office.

At some point I realized that my iconic-sounding name was also helping me learn how to read people more quickly. There are a million ways to react when hearing it for the first time, from heckling to nothing at all, and I was getting to observe the other party navigate something...unexpected.

As a creative director, I don’t often get to see the physical reactions of the audiences I engage, but anticipating them is still a big part of the job. Data and testing are increasingly valuable to the creative process, but conceiving a big idea that can inspire a specific action by unexpected means? That, along with a few other things, requires trained intuition about human behavior.

Creative problem-solving, art, design and writing have always been personal interests, along with guitar-playing, espionage thrillers (books, movies and shows) and mountain biking, but most of my off-hours involve outdoor activities with my wife, two young kids and chocolate lab.
